History

Before I started Cycling, I was overweight, smoked cigarettes like a chimney, drank and ate everything I could, and lived an unhealthy lifestyle. It wasn’t until Thanksgiving Day 2008 that I decided to take my Stumpjumper, which was mainly a garage ornament, for a ride. Not being able to make the climb up Maple Springs and having to turn around changed me that day. I quit cigarettes “cold turkey” on Turkey Day and have been pedaling and training ever since. My passion for cycling is now a big part of my life and reminds me that giving up and turning around is never an option.

Bikes have changed my life and being a part of the B4B team, I hope to make changes in other peoples lives by raising awareness and riding for a cause. I haven’t had anyone close to me affected by breast cancer, however I have lost an Aunt to pancreatic cancer and currently have a friend dealing with their loved one affected by cancer. Early detection is key to winning the battle against breast cancer and through raising awareness of the importance of screening through mammograms, I hope to do my part in supporting Mammograms In Action in saving lives.
